I have definitely decided to make my journal friends only, and to start a scrapbook of the year. My only problem is, I am actually that stupid, I don't know what to do so I have a few questions haha!

1. How do you keep the friends only post and the scrapbook at the top of the journal

2. How do you change the journal to friends only (or whatever it's called in LJ settings terms)

3. I currently have a paid account with a layout made by a friend, this will run out beginning of February and I won't be able to reset the paid account up until at least March/April (when I've started work and been paid LOL!) Will my layout change when my account changes back to the plus account?

4. Is there anything else I should know about either the scrapbook or the friends only thing?

I'm going to say thank you here to [livejournal.com profile] kasiopeia for previous information on the scrapbook and coding for it's layout and stuff.

You keep posts at the top of the journal by setting their dates to the far future.

The Friends Only Thing you set by going into the Privacy section of your account settings and selecting Friends only as Default Entry Security.

I have no idea about the rest

You can set even the hour, so I'd keep the friends only at the very top, and then set the scrapbook one to a slightly later hour, so it stayed right under the friends only post.

Yes, you can select the level of privacy for each post; you can even change it after you've posted.

1. Date the entry in the future. Like on mine :)

3. Nope :)

If you go in and try and change it to another layout while you've got a basic account, you'll lose all the paid account layout features but if you leave it as it is your custom layout should stay. Same with mood themes.

So basically: don't fuck with it ;)

I think everyone already answered all the questions, so yay for answering questions :)
Oh, I just thought of one thing you may need to know... check backdate each entry after you make one in the future.. if not it won't let you publish it.... then once you publish it you can go to edit and undue the backdate check mark and then it will appear on people's friends list. If you leave the backdate entry checked it would show up on your LiveJournal page but not in anyone's friends list.

You aren't an idiot... it is about the same, the check box says date out of order, but if you forget to check it, it will tell you that you need to backdate the entry on a screen that will pop up... because LJ is tricky like that

Just the FO and Scrapbook posts need to have "out of order" checked. This means they don't display on people's flists though.

Anything you select "date out of order" on won't appear on people's flists. Other posts will, you don't need to do anything to them :)
